–IF you are like I was when I first decided to pick up a set of weights, you most likely have no idea how you will go about achieving the fitness goals you have in mind. I began working out because I was severely underweight (before weight-training, my sport of choice was cross-country) and I decided that I could certainly spare to gain a few pounds.
After making this decision, I booted up the ol’ family computer (I was 15), typed in my password to log in to my AOL internet service, and searched “How to Build Muscle”. What came up was a series of e-books that promising “DRAMATIC MUSCLE GAINS!” in a matter of weeks using “top-secret” principles shared by pro-bodybuilders. Well, as I was 15, I did not have a credit card that I could use to pay the $39.99 that John Basedow or whoever wanted for these ultra-secret training techniques, so I kept searching and stumbled upon a wealth of information about weight-lifting routines, muscle-gaining diets, and the like.
My hope for this website is that it will be a tool that beginners like me will be able to use to break in to the world of bodybuilding, physical fitness, and achieving realistic goals one at a time. Much of the information online is tailored to intermediate to advanced weightlifters or is too fragmented across different website to be of any use to the beginner. And even though weight training has exploded in popularity recently, I still see people at the gym performing routines that just downright suck. I try to avoid being the guy that prances around the gym offering unwanted advice on how to perform a perfect hammer curl. Chances are this guy doesn’t know what the hell he is talking about anyways. But I do like to spout my mouth every so often so I figured blogging about it is a better outlet.
This is my first post to The Muscle Feed and the following posts will break down the very basics of putting on muscle and building strength. We’ll start with coming up with a routine and decide which body parts you should workout and how often.
See ya then!
