Cytosport is the brand behind products like Fast Twitch, Muscle Milk, Monster Milk and Cytogainer. For the most part we here at the Muscle Feed approve of and stand behind their products. We believe that you can find a better protein powder than Muscle Milk, simply because of the high fat content, but as far as weight gain powders, Cytogainer is one of the best.

If you want to check out different flavors and further criticism of Cytogainer, check out the link above. Here is the Muscle Feed’s breakdown of the product:
Price:
At $23.99 for their smaller container and $35.89 for their larger container, Cytogainer is one of the most cost effective weight gaining powders. Cytogainer also has a higher amount of servings than competitors so it makes the price even better. The 3.25 lb container has 18 servings. And while a full serving calls for 4 scoops of the powder, most people will only need to use 2-3 scoops, so this will stretch it out even longer.
Taste:
Cytogainer is one of the better tasting weight gainers. We sampled the Chocolate Malt, Banana Creme, and Cookies and Creme flavor and liked each one of them. We recommend the Chocolate Malt flavor, because we mixed it with peanut butter and bananas for some extra calories and really enjoyed the taste. However, every person has their certain flavor that they stick to and at $23.99 per bottle, it isn;t too expensive to try around to find your favorite flavor.
Of course, no weight gainer is going to taste like a malt or milkshake from an ice cream parlor, but then again, if you want to gain weight by drinking those, well go on right ahead.
Effectiveness:
Cytogainer is great not only because of its price and taste but because of its nutritional content. Whereas many weight gainers are pretty much just protein and sugar, Cytogainer throws in some quality calories. The carbs found in Cytogainer are high quality, complex carbohydrates. Cytogainer also contains high quality whey protein and whey protein peptides that ensure easy digestibility. A full serving of Cytogainer contains 54 grams of protein and 570 calories. It is also 98% lactose free, which is great for people with lactose intolerance and good for you anyways.
Cytogainer also contains 3 grams of creatine monohydrate for energy and ATP synthesis, 2 grams of glutamine for muscle recovery and carnosine synthesis, and only 6 grams of fat (3.5 grams saturated).
Conclusion:
Take Cytogainer for a spin if you are trying to add on quality, lean muscle. It is definitely a change of pace from the weight gainers that stuff you full of fat and sugar. And hey, it still tastes great at the same time.
